Q.   What do I do first when I have water damage in my home or office?

A.   Contact Chicago Water & Fire Restoration immediately to have the leak stopped and remove any moisture before the damage spreads, restorable items become un-restorable and mold, mildew or fungus have a chance to develop.

Q.   What services does Chicago Water & Fire Restoration provide?

A.   Chicago Water & Fire Restoration's certified technicians will, upon arrival, first inspect and address any potential safety hazards resulting from water damage. Once addressed, our technicians will remove any surface moisture by the use of a truck-mounted extraction unit, high-velocity air movers and dehumidifiers. We also treat all damaged surfaces with a powerful anti-microbial treatment to prevent any type of microbial growth. After all moisture has been removed, any carpet and upholstery can be cleaned and any structural damage can then be repaired.

Q.   How much will this cost?

A.   Once the source of damage has been confirmed and stopped, an Chicago Water & Fire technician will inform you if the loss you have is typically covered under a homeowners insurance policy. At that time you will have the choice of up front billing, or to have the claim directly billed to your insurer. In some cases, payment of your deductible will be required.

Q.   Do you service my area?

A.   The bottom of our home page has a comprehensive list of the cities we service in and around Chicago. If your area is not listed and within 90 minutes of Chicago, we service your area.

Q.   What will happen to my property should I choose to just remove the carpet and pad and handle the damage myself?

A.   Removing the carpet and pad in most cases does not solve the problem completely. By the time it has been removed it has usually begun to migrate to the property's structure where it cannot be seen nor easily removed. Walls are usually cooler because of lack of light and contain stagnant air. This is a prime area for microbial growth. The dangers to building occupants that can result from unseen microbial or mold growth are completely dependent on the individual's immune system's capacity to handle bacteria, fungus and mold. In cases of individuals with compromised immune systems such as young children or the elderly, prolonged exposure to such toxins can cause severe illness and be fatal. Other side effects of bacteria, fungus and mold exposure are nasal stuffiness, skin and eye irritation, memory and hair loss, fever and shortness of breath.

Q.   Do you guarantee your work and is your company insured?

A.   We are one of the few companies in Chicago that guarantees all of our work unconditionally. In the unlikely event it is needed, we carry $1,000,000 in liability insurance coverage.
